During the Period of National Mourning

Sep 10, 2022 | General News, Club News

As a committee, we have considered about our club rides for this coming Sunday (11/9/22) in the light of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passing on Thursday evening. British Cycling has released guidance and we have taken the decision to cancel group rides this weekend as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and also our local community who will be grieving at this time. This is in line with the majority of local and national sporting events.

We kindly ask, if you ride in private groups or solo that you refrain from wearing HCC club kit so that we can be united as a club in marking our respects.

British Cycling have suggested that one thing you can do to pay your own personal respects when out on a ride which is to wear a black arm band, if you wish to do so.

We will be continuing to review any announcements nationally and from British Cycling about all future HCC activities during this period of national mourning and we will let you know when HCC rides will resume again at the soonest.
